How to train for your first Ironman Trithalon?

Training for Ironman Trithalon is a minimum 1 year journey. It is a process full of physical and mental challenges which can not be done in few weeks. Flexibility of the body is quintessential for completing this race.

The first thing we need to do is prepare a schedule for quality training, keeping weather, family and work commitments in mind. Also before finding out race, figure out when you have the most time to train long and hard for several months.

And as we all know that it takes time for our body to adapt to the new stresses of training without the risk of injury. Hence during the initial days compete in a few marathons and short trithalons. And slowly build up fitness and let the body adapt to training.

Many experts believe, it can take up to 3 years to build enough fitness and Trithalon experience to get to the starting line of Ironman. But with planned workout, hours of practice one can finish in a reasonable time period.

Competitors should know what they are going to wear and how they are going to handle the transitions between sports. Atheletes should also focus on the intake: fluids, carbohydrates and electrolytes.
